where to place the free standing range

They are building for us and at this stage the drawing shows the range to be under a window but with the down draft ventilation.
Is this right? I know ranges should be against a solid wall. but do they do it under windows now?

In my opinion, this is very bad design. If a gas range, it may be illegal.
It will certainly be impossible to have curtains safely located there and will be hard to keep clean.

Did you not check the plans before they started building?

Excellence is its own reward!

A window should be over a sink, not a stove. (1) it's dangerous; (2) where do you put the hood?
