wiring oven and cooktop

08/02/2004 05:18 PM H7H714

I am replacing a stove with a new wall oven and cooktop. The stove was on a 50 amp circuit. The new oven and cooktop both say they should be connected to a 30 amp circuit. Can I connect both the cooktop and oven to the single 50amp circuit or do I have to run a second line and keep the connections separate at the circuit box on two 30amp breakers? Thanks in advance.

The answer is maybe. In order to know one way or the other, the following information is needed for both items. Total kilowatts (KW) or amps of each item.
