At the Rowley Victorian Tim Berky is installing custom milled trim in the kitchen and dining room while Ruth Foster and Kelly’s Landscaping create screening and garden rooms out back. Bob looks at the custom Pella two-over-one windows in the oriel window and the original trim that Berky replicates for trimming the windows and the doors in the new space. Around the door, Berky uses expanding foam to close air gaps and then glues and nails the trim in place. The cost to mill matching trim for this job was around $2,000. Outside, Ruth Foster oversees a landscape plan that will screen the street from view with a Euonymous hedge and round the corners of the yard with evergreens. She has selected flowering magnolia and dogwood trees for the yard and perennial gardens set in a rock bed to enclose a sitting area just off the deck. Inside, Berky shows how to drill tile for fixtures without cracking or splitting it. He recommends a new, carbide drill bit and a slow drill speed when working with tile. He installs a brushed nickel towel ring from the Moen ShowHouse Collection, which matches the WaterHill rainfall showerhead in the new shower.
