Baby Safety Products and a Corian Tub Deck (BV0207)
In Melrose, Massachusetts, Bob learns about safety products for children, healthy bedding and clothing, and the custom Corian tub deck. First, Jay Martel of the International Association for Child Safety shows Bob an adjustable child safety gate for wide spaces that is removable and configures to varying angles. Next Ginny Turner shows Bob an all-organic mattress designed to fit a child from birth through age six with a series of interchangeable natural rubber plates stacked from firmest to softest for varying weights and stages. A breathable, naturally flame retardant wool pad and organic cotton sheets and clothing eliminate baby’s exposure to pesticides and chemicals. In the master bath, Grant Garcia and Chris Dada install the Corian tub surround that was fabricated off site using digital-photo templating. The custom installation includes dog ears to accommodate the tub wall, a tile cove, and a water dam to prevent water intrusion behind the solid surface. In the kitchen, Martel shows Bob safety products to keep appliances closed, cupboard doors latched with no gap for pinching, outlets unavailable to small fingers, and stove dials under cover. Upstairs, a latching, swinging baby gate guards the stairs, and a completed nursery awaits the newborn.
