THAT MUCH CHANGE OVER THE YEARS.
THE HOUSE BEHIND ME,
AN 1890s QUEEN ANNE,
WAS PUT UP BY A BUILDER,
ALONG WITH 2 OR 3 OTHERS
ON THE BLOCK.
I GUESS THE DEFINING FEATURE
OF THIS LITTLE QUEEN ANNE IS
THE GABLE END
THAT YOU SEE UP THERE,
WHICH HAS SOME SCALLOPED
SHINGLE WORK,
AS WELL AS THE DISTINCTIVE
SQUARE WINDOW
WITH THE COLORED-GLASS
INSETS AROUND THE BORDER.
NOW, IN THE 1950s,
THIS HOUSE WAS REMODELED
A LITTLE BIT,
AND THEY ENCLOSED THE PORCH
THAT WAS ON THIS SIDE.
IT WAS USED AS A BEAUTY PARLOR
FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
SINCE 1995,
DAVID AND JEANNE MASHER,
WHO HAD BOUGHT THE HOUSE,
HAVE DONE LITTLE
TO REMODEL THE EXTERIOR,
BUT THEY DID HAVE TO DO
SOME MAJOR WORK
ON THE BACKSIDE OF IT,
WHERE AN OLD STABLE WAS
COLLAPSING.
THEY TOOK IT DOWN,
AND THEY REPLACED IT
WITH THE TWO-CAR GARAGE
AND STUDIO THAT YOU SEE
BEHIND ME.

THE PROJECT INVOLVES REDOING
A LITTLE BIT OF THE INTERIOR
FAMILY/KITCHEN AREA,
AS WELL AS CREATING
A NICE, LARGE BACKYARD DECK
