Finishing the Kitchen (HA1024)
Buy Show Video
A small kitchen's being finished up for the Governor's private quarters. State-of-the-art appliances like the GE Advantium oven help create a more practical, efficient space for the first family. In the bedrooms, a recycled carpet is being put down, and we learn more about the process involved in producing it. Downstairs in the Ladies' Parlor fancy patterned Wilton carpet from England is stitched together in the traditional manner. We visit local artist Elaine Haviland in her studio in Richmond's elaborately restored Landmark Theater to see how she creates the mahogany wood graining finish on the doors; back on site, we see how those restored doors are re-hung.
