Miami Beach Condo Project

Project Introduction and Miami Real Estate Search (HA1501) Bob Vila's Home Again heads to Miami in search of a condominium to remodel and refurbish for a second-home getaway. In this first episode, Bob explores the condo market in Miami with realtor Gina Kirkpatrick and looks for the right fixer-upper. Bob tours Miami, takes a look at the trends and architecture that make it unique, visits the famous Fontainebleau hotel designed by architect Morris Lapidus, and zeroes in on the ideal condominium for this remodeling project. Bob and architect Michael Pierce walk through the dated rooms, brainstorming solutions to open up this 950-square-foot condo filled with small, closed spaces and outdated heavy finishes. Looking out from the terrace onto Biscayne Bay, Bob envisions the possibilities for a vacation home as he prepares to demolish and remodel existing space, and bring a fresher, more open look and feel to this Miami diamond-in-the-rough.
