Federal-Style Home - Charleston, SC

Home Again

Season 5 -

Federal-Style Home

Charleston, SC

Bob tackles the revitalization of an exquisite Federal-style home, built in the early 1800s, which survived the Civil War but barely survived Hurricane Hugo. The nine episode series kicks off with a carriage tour of one of the nation's most lovingly preserved historical districts, Charleston, South Carolina. Richard Marks, whose business it is to help homeowners restore and improve their homes using authentic techniques and materials passed down from Charleston's antebellum heyday, applies his expertise to this project as well. The house boasts excellent woodwork and ornamental plaster details which will require painstaking work to restore them to their original grandeur. While in Charleston, Bob visits a number of exceptional Georgian mansions and tours Millford Plantation, a spectacular Greek Revival governor's mansion still ringing with echoes of the Civil War.
