Bob takes the viewers to Cape Cod, Mass. in the dead of winter to build a custom, high tech greenhouse. Design and construction of a new addition to the front of an existing house creates a greenhouse/conservatory as well as an elegant new front entry pavilion with a mahogany pergola supported by limestone columns. This state-of-the-art space incorporates traditional materials, including bricks and mortar, with new technology encompassing engineered wood parallam beams and low-E glass and fiberglass windowswhich use the sun's energy with maximum efficiency while providing floral relief in the dead of winter. Throughout the nine episodes several field trips are taken to museums, universities, and Boston's Back Bay to see how large-scale and historical greenhouse/conservatories work. Landscape designer Ruth Foster is on site to revamp the tired yard and plant a new tree for shade. With the greenhouse construction completed, Martha's Stewart drops by to help Bob shop for plants and stays for tea.
