WHO HAVE RECOGNIZED THE VALUE OF SOME OF THESE HOUSES,
THIS ONE IN PARTICULAR HAS ALREADY HAD
A GREAT DEAL OF WORK DONE TO IT, AS YOU CAN SEE.
THEY'VE REVIVED THE FIREPLACE
IN THE WONDERFUL ORIGINAL FOYER,
REMOVED PARTITIONS TO TURN IT BACK INTO A ONE-FAMILY HOME,
CREATED A PEACEFUL, BACKYARD GARDEN,
AND DONE SOME SERIOUS WORK TO THE FACADE,
BUT THEY'RE NOT STOPPING HERE.
RON AND I ARE CONVERTING THE HOUSE

THAT'S RIGHT.
NOW THE MAIN THING THAT WE GOT BACK THERE
IS...WOULD YOU CALL THAT A TRUNK LINE, FELLAS?
THAT'S OUR MAIN PLENUM DUCT IS WHAT IT IS.
PLENUM DUCT IS WHAT YOU'RE REFERRING TO.
AND IT'S BASICALLY A FOIL WRAPPED FIBERGLASS
AND IT HAS A SPECIAL LINING ON THE INSIDE.
BECAUSE OF THE HIGH VELOCITY,
WE DON'T WANT ALL THE LITTLE PIECES
OF FIBERGLASS TO COME INTO THE HOUSE
SO THIS HAS A SPECIAL LINING INTO IT,
SO THIS IS THE MAIN PLENUM DUCT THAT WE USE
AND THEN WE HAVE SUPPLY TUBING,
WHICH IS A PIECE OF CORRUGATED ALUMINUM,
WHICH ALLOWS US TO BEND IT
AND IT HAS A FIBERGLASS WRAP AROUND IT
WITH THE FOIL PAPER SO THAT THE COLD AIR
THAT WE ARE DELIVERING HERE STAYS COLD,
TO THE OUTLET THAT WE WANT IT TO GET TO.
AND PLUS THE WHOLE KEY TO THIS SYSTEM
IS THAT IT'S FLEXIBLE.
WE CAN RUN THIS THROUGH BAYS AND DUCTS LIKE WE HAVE.
THIS SYSTEM IS MOUNTED UP HERE RIGHT NOW
SERVES THE ATTIC AREA,
BUT IT ALSO SERVES THE FLOOR BELOW.
WE WERE ABLE TO DO THAT BY RUNNING THESE SUPPLY TUBES
DOWN THROUGH THE BAYS, RIGHT ACROSS TO THE ROOMS
THAT WE NEED TO DO.
NOW TELL ME ONE THING, IS IT EASIER TO MAKE THE CONNECTIONS
BETWEEN THE SMALLER DUCTING AND THE PLENUM DUCT?
IT'S A LOT EASIER THAN A METAL SYSTEM.
THIS IS HOW WE DO IT.
WE HAVE A PIECE OF PLENUM RIGHT HERE
AND WHAT I'M GOING TO DO,
I'M JUST GOING TO DRILL A HOLE RIGHT THROUGH IT.
I USE THE DRILL BACKWARDS
SO WE DON'T RIP THE FOIL WITH WHAT WE'RE DOING.
THEN WE'LL JUST TAKE OUR ADAPTER THAT GOES IN HERE
THAT'S ESPECIALLY MADE TO FIT ON THIS PIECE
AND WE'LL PUT IT RIGHT INTO IT.
AND IT'S CURVED AS YOU CAN SEE
SO IT FITS TO THE CURVATURE OF THE PIPE,
THEN WE JUST TAKE THESE LITTLE CLIPS RIGHT IN HERE.
AND THEY SLIDE RIGHT DOWN INSIDE HERE AND GO DOWN THE SIDE.
AND THIS ONE GOES OVER ON THIS SIDE LIKE THIS.
AND WHAT'S NICE ABOUT THIS IS THAT YOU CAN DO IT,
AS I'M DOING IT HERE NOW,
BUT ALSO IN A TIGHT SPOT,
THEN WE JUST TAKE THIS EXPANDING TOOL,
AND WE JUST EXPAND OVER AND IT JUST LOCKS RIGHT INTO PLACE.
AND ONCE WE GET THE TUBING TO WHERE WE WANT IT,
WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN GET OUR ADAPTER
SO THAT IT JUST POPS RIGHT ONTO HERE LIKE SO,
TAKE OUR ALUMINUM, BRING IT BACK UP TO HERE
AND THEN JUST TAKE A PIECE OF DUCT TAPE THAT I HAVE HERE
AND WE JUST DUCT THAT RIGHT UP
AND THAT SEALS THIS END OF THE PIECE OF TUBING.

ARE THERE ANY UNUSUAL FEATURES TO IT?
WELL, WE DO HAVE A PATENTED SELF-CLEANING SYSTEM ON THIS
TUB.
HOW DOES THAT WORK?
YOU ARE ABLE TO BACK FLUSH THE LINES AFTER YOU'VE USED THE
WHIRLPOOL.
YOU CAN POUR A CLEANING SOLUTION THROUGH THE CAP LOCATED
THERE.
SO YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT CLEANING THE INSIDES
OF ALL THE PIPES THAT DELIVER AIR TO CREATE THE JETS
AND SO YOU HAVE SOME SORT OF SOAP THAT GOES IN THERE?
A NON SUDSING, ACTUALLY, CLEANING SOLUTION.
SO THAT'S NICE.
JUST LIKE YOU GET RING AROUND THE TUB ON THE INSIDE,
YOU GET IT IN THE PLUMBING LINES AS WELL,
SO WE'VE FORMULATED A WAY TO CLEAN OUT THOSE LINES
AND BACK FLUSH IT AFTER EACH USE AND MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT A
CLEAN BATH.
NOW THIS IS ALL AN ACRYLIC TUB. IT'S NOT FIBERGLASS.
THAT'S RIGHT. IT'S LUCITE CAST ACRYLIC
AND IT'S BACKED WITH A FIBERGLASS BACKING.
WE ACTUALLY GLASS IN A HALF-INCH PIECE OF STEEL REBAR
IN THE RIM ALSO FOR ADDED DURABILITY AND STRENGTH.
SO THAT MAKES IT VERY, VERY STIFF AND STURDY.
THAT'S CORRECT. EXCELLENT.
YOU CAN SEE HOW THICK THE FIBERGLASS IS, AS WELL.
