SO BASED ON THAT, SCHEDULES
CHANGED.
HIS BUDGET REALLY DIDN'T MEET
HIS CHANGES,
AND WE TRIED TO ACCOMMODATE HIM,
BUT TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH
TIMING, BUDGET,
IT WAS A REAL STUMBLING BLOCK.
BUT IT WILL GET FINISHED. WE
JUST WON'T SEE IT.
OH, YES.

OF THE OVERALL GENRE, WHICH IS
CALLED LIME PLASTER,
BASICS OF WHICH ARE JUST SIMPLY
SAND,
LIME PUTTY, AND ANIMAL HAIR.

INSIDE AND OUT, UPPER AND LOWER,
IS THE ORIGINAL MIX THAT WE USED
ON THE GLOBE
AND THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO USE ON

INTO A SCHOOL OR A PERFORMING
ARTS CENTER.
THIS IS STILL A FAMILY HOME.

AND IT IS THE LARGEST
SHINGLE-STYLE HOUSE IN AMERICA.
IT STARTED OUT AS A 17,000
SQUARE-FOOT HOME
THAT GREW TO 70,000.
AND OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEARS
WHEN THE FAMILY SUMMERED HERE,
SOMETIMES THERE WERE 70 MEMBERS
OF THE FAMILY IN RESIDENCE.
IN FACT, THEY ADDED A WING HERE,
WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE BACHELOR'S
WING,
AND PART OF IT AS BEEN RESTORED
ON THIS SIDE.
THIS SIDE REALLY LOOKS WONDERFUL
WITH ALL ITS TURRETS
AND THE PORTE-COCHERE AND ALL
THE DIFFERENT ROOFLINES, ET
CETERA.
BUT OVER HERE, YOU STILL SEE
SOME OF THE SHINGLE WORK THAT
HAS SURVIVED,
ALTHOUGH IT STILL NEEDS A LITTLE
BIT OF RESTORATION.
THE MOST INTERESTING THING THAT
I THINK WE'LL FIND HERE
IS THE FACT THAT THE FOURTH
GENERATION DESCENDANT,
THE GREAT-GREAT-GRANDSON OF THE
ORIGINAL OWNERS
HAS MANAGED TO GET AHOLD OF THE
PROPERTY AGAIN.
AND HE AND HIS YOUNG WIFE AND
THEIR 3 DAUGHTERS ARE RESIDING
HERE.
THEY'RE TURNING IT INTO A
FACILITY WHERE PEOPLE CAN COME
AND GET MARRIED,
PEOPLE CAN COME AND STAY, BUT
THEY'RE ALSO DOING
A REALLY HANDS-ON RESTORATION OF
THE WHOLE PROPERTY,
WORKING AT IT THEMSELVES.
