A LOT OF APARTMENTS DOWN HERE
HAVE VERY HIGH WINDOWSILLS,
AND I WANTED TO TAKE
ADVANTAGE OF THE VIEW.
SO NOW WHEN I LIE IN MY BED
READING MY MAGAZINES,
LOOKING OUTSIDE,
I SEE THE OCEAN.
IT'S GREAT.
YEAH, AND ALL THOSE
BEAUTIFUL PALM TREES.
AND THE PALM TREES.
THAT'S TERRIFIC.
I LOVE THE COLORS
THAT YOU USED,
THE ACCENTS,
LIKE ON THIS BED FRAME.
WELL, IT REALLY--
IT BRINGS THE FLOWERS
IN FROM OUTSIDE,
THE SKY, THE WATER,
IT'S ALL INSIDE-OUTSIDE.
IT'S VERY NICE.
AND SO WHAT ABOUT
THE KITCHEN?
WELL, I DON'T DO
MUCH COOKING DOWN HERE,
SO THE KITCHEN WAS NOT
VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.
I'VE MADE THIS AREA
INTO THE KITCHEN AREA.
WHY DID YOU PUT
THE SINK OVER HERE?
WELL, THE KITCHEN
WAS IN HERE,
IN THIS LITTLE ROOM,
WHICH I TURNED INTO--
THAT IS LITTLE,
IT'S MAYBE 6 OR 8 FEET.
I KNOW.
THIS WAS THE KITCHEN
AND I TURNED IT
INTO A LITTLE EXTRA
SLEEPING AREA
FOR VISITING KIDS
AND, UM...
SO IT'S A STUDIO
WITH A GUEST BEDROOM.
YEAH.
VERY NICE.
AND THEN,
SO THE KITCHEN WAS HERE,
AND THAT'S WHY
WE HAD TO PUT THE--
LEAVE THE SINK
ON THIS SIDE,
BECAUSE WE COULDN'T
BRING THE PLUMBING
OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE.
YOU COULDN'T DO THAT
BECAUSE YOU HAVE
CONCRETE SLABS.
EXACTLY. EXACTLY.

BUT THIS IS ALL
THE KITCHEN I NEED.
I HAVE A NICE WORKTABLE
WITH ALL MY APPLIANCES
LINED UP,
A JUICER AND A MICROWAVE
AND A--
WHERE DID YOU FIND
THIS BENCH? THAT'S GREAT.
ISN'T THAT GREAT?
I FOUND IT
AT A LOCAL STORE
CALLED SENSE OF TEMPO.
UH-HUH.
AND THEN THE ONLY OTHER
THING I REALLY NEED
IS A GOOD REFRIGERATOR.
SO YOU PUT IN A--
I BUILT THIS IN.
YEAH. A SMALL
BUILT-IN REFRIGERATOR,
LITTLE KITCHEN ISLAND,
WORK SURFACE,
AND THIS,
WHICH REALLY WORKS
KIND OF AS A ROOM DIVIDER.
THIS IS--
IT'S ALSO THE CENTER
OF THE APARTMENT,
BUT IT DOES ACT
AS A SEPARATOR
BETWEEN THE KITCHEN AREA
AND THE LIVING AREA.

IN THE BATHROOM?
WELL, THE BATHROOM
WAS ACTUALLY
A LITTLE TOO VINTAGE FOR ME.
I HAD IT--
I LEFT IT THE WAY IT WAS
FOR ABOUT 8 YEARS,
AND I FINALLY GOT AROUND
TO REDOING IT THIS YEAR.
AND I CHOSE A TILE
THAT I THOUGHT
WORKED WITH THE COLORS
OF THE APARTMENT
AND THE COLORS OF MIAMI,
IT'S A WATERY BLUE AND GREEN.
YEAH.
AND I PUT IN A NEW TUB.
AND I FOUND
THIS FABULOUS SINK
FROM ONE OF MY PROJECTS
IN THE SAN REMO IN NEW YORK,
AND I BROUGHT IT DOWN HERE
AND IT FITS RIGHT IN.
THAT'S FANTASTIC.
IT'S PROBABLY WHAT,
ART DECO?
YES, IT IS.
GREAT. OH,
IT'S A GREAT BATHROOM.
WHAT I LOVE, THOUGH,
IS THE UNIFIED COLOR
THROUGHOUT.

VALUE IN OLD DRYWALL.
WELL, IN ANOTHER HOUR OR TWO,
THEY'LL HAVE THIS WALL
OUT OF THE WAY
AND THEN THE OTHER WALL,
BUT WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF TIME.
COME "HOME AGAIN" NEXT TIME,
WE'LL BE PUTTING UP
SOME NEW WALLS.
