Diverting rainwater away from the foundation
The first step in drying out the basement of this 1920's Gambrel was to upgrade the gutter and rainwater removal system. Old clay collection tubes that carried the water underground to the stormwater drains are replaced by rain chutes that carry the water from the downspouts away from the home. This protects the ground around the home from water saturation that can compromise the foundation.
