Vertical, unobstructed distance, between the flood level in a plumbing fixture and the lowest water supply inlet, such as the distance between the rim of the tub and the faucet.
Air gun
Compressed air powered nozzle, it is used for the spray application of paint, etc.
Air hammer
A pneumatic nailer, essentially a hammer driven by compressed air.
Air handler unit (ahu)
The inside part of the A/C system that contains the blower, cooling (evaporator) coil, and heater. The part of an HVAC system responsible for moving air, which may also clean, heat, or cool the air.
Air infiltration
Leakage of air into rooms through cracks, windows doors and other openings.
Air infiltration measurement
A building energy auditing technique used to determine and/or locate air leaks in a building shell or envelope.
Air layering
A method of propagating single-stem plants, such as Ficus elastica decora, which have lost their lower leaves and become leggy. An incision is made to a portion of outer stem layer, damp sphagnum moss is wrapped in a bag around it until roots develop. Then it is cut and replanted with its shorter stem size.
Air lock
Blockage in the flow of liquid, esp. on the suction side of a pump caused by an air bubble in the line.
Air pocket
Dead air spaces in concrete, which are also known as a void, are usually one millimeter, with entrained pockets being smaller.
