Balloon note mortgage
A written promise to pay a balloon mortgage's full balance when due.

Balloon payment
A scheduled payment on a mortgage that is larger than other, periodic payments, usually the unamortized final payment. Usually the amount that must be paid in a lump sum at the end of the term.

Balsa
Strong, lightweight wood.

Baluster
A short post or pillar in a series that supports a rail, thus forming a balustrade. May be curved or straight.

Balustrade
A series of balusters or post connected by a rail, generally used adjacent to stairs.

Band hanger
Type of pipe hanger that supports the pipe on a continuous strap of metal whose ends are joined at the top by a supporting rod. This rod bots through the strap and is adjustable as to height.

Band saw
A band saw comprises a continuous flexible blade, or band, held taut around two or three wheels driven by a direct drive or belt-driven motor. The teeth and the motion of the blade are both downward, helping to reduce the chance of a kickback. The downward stroke also tends to help hold the workpiece in place against the table.
