Cement mortar
Mixture consisting of portland cement, sand and water.

Cement tile
Matte tile, which is manufactured out of portland cement, white sand and color, pigments by casting in polished metal molds and which can be used for both exterior and interior walls and floors.

Cement trowel
Piece of flat metal with a handle that is used to finish cement work. Also called a concrete trowel.

Cement, roofing
A general term for a variety of trowelable mastics, asphalt or tar, which are used during roof construction and repair.

Cement, white portland
Cement, ASTM C150 and C175, white in color.

Cement-coated nails or sinkers
Nails that have been coated with plastic cement to increase their holding power and increase ease of use.

Center
Tapered shank, conical tip tool that is used in the tailstock of a lathe and holds the work to be turned. Alternately, the temporary construction support form for masonry arches or lintels.

Center bit
Drill bit used to locate the precise center of a hole to be drilled. The sharp, small point, which extends from the cutting end focuses the force of the drill and bores a small hole. Also called a brad point bit, it eliminates the need for a center punch by preventing the bit from drifting off center.

Center drill
Short shank drill designed to drill a shallow, flared hole in the end of a piece of metal, which will be turned in a lathe. The lathe tailstock center fits in the center-drilled hole in the metal.
