A system where the incoming cold water supply has a device that will not allow water to expand when heated. (i.e. check valve, backflow preventer, pressure reducing valve, etc.).
Closed valley
Roof valley, with shingle courses meeting to cover the valley, which are interwoven and overlap in the valley to allow the water to run off.
Closed-cut valley
A method of valley application in which shingles from one side of the valley extend across the valley while shingles from the other side are installed over the top of those and then trimmed back approximately 2 inches from the valley centerline.
Closed-end lease
Lease with monthly payments over a given period of time with no charge when the lease expires. At the expiration of the lease, the lessor sells the leased property for a gain or a loss.
Closed-end mortgage
Mortgage in which the collateralized property cannot be used as security for another loan.
Closed-loop
A type of heating system in which the heat transfer fluid circulates from the heating component to a heat exchanger that is immersed in a heat storage media, passing its heat to the storage media without physically contacting it.

A plumbing tool used for clearing obstructions from toilet traps to the mouth of the waste pipe.
Closet bend
A curved fitting mounted immediately below the toilet that connects the closet flange to the toilet drain.
