Collector head
A component used to direct water from a through-wall scupper to a downspout. Also known as a Conductor Head.

The angle that a solar collector is positioned from horizontal.

Collector trolley
Electrical contact that moves with a crane trolley for the purpose of transmitting electrical power from the electrical busway to the trolley and then on to the motor.

Electrical contact that moves with a crane bridge for the purpose of transmitting electrical power from the electrical busway to the bridge and then on to the motor.

Collector, solar
Hot water heating system using a heat exchanger that uses absorbed heat from the sun to heat up fluid, such as water. Copper tubing, painted black, is wound back and forth in a flat glass box, insulated on the bottom and sides, which is mount facing the sun to absorb the heat. The water is pumped to circulate through the tubing, heating as it passes through the glass box. Heated water is stored in an insulated tank for household use and black plastic collectors are used for heating water for swimming pools and hot tubs. Using solar energy for heating conserves other fuels.

Collet
(1) A chuck with a tapered end used for gripping circular pieces turned on a lathe. (2) Compression tightened split holder for drill bits, shafts, etc. (3) A metal band or ring.

Colloid
A solid, liquid or gaseous substance consisting of very small, insoluble, non-diffusible particles that remain in a surrounding solid, liquid or gaseous medium of different matter.

Action by two or more people to undertake illegal actions or commit fraud.

Colonial architecture
Traditional style of housing borrowed from the British Georgian architecture during the American Colonial period and is usually two stories with emphasis on window details and shutters.

Brush bristle created semi-circular swirls in plaster or stucco.
