Drill bit case
Drill bit cases are used to easily organize drill bits. Most cases are marked with drill bit sizes for fast location. Drill bit cases also protect bits from damage or loss.

Drill bit extension
A drill bit extension (also called an extension shaft) is a shaft with a collar and two set screws which extends the reach of any drill bit.

Drill bit length
Drill bit length is typically in 'jobbers length' determined by the diameter according to trade custom. An extension bit is an extra-long bit, typically from 6-12 inches. Special, 18 in. Long 'electricians' length bits are also available. In addition, drill bit extensions can be used to extend reach.

Drill bit shank
A drill bit shank is the end of the drill bit that fits into a chuck. Most drill shanks are the same diameter as the overall bit, but some larger bits have 'turned-down shanks' which are sized to fit a particular chuck. Bits with hex shanks fit only hex shank chucks, which are designed to prevent slippage.
