Fungal wood rot
A common wood destroying organism which develops when wood containing material is exposed to moisture and poor air circulation for a long (6 month +) period of time. Often and incorrectly referred to as dry rot.

Fungi or fungus
One of a large group of thallophytes, living in damp wood, which include mold, mildew, rust, mushrooms, etc. which are parasites that live on organisms or feed on dead organic material and lack true roots, stems, leaves and chlorophyll, and which reproduce by means of spores.

Fungible
Items that are freely interchangeable or able to be substituted, one for another and are capable of satisfying an obligation expressed in terms of the class.

Fungicide
A chemical used to control mould caused by fungi.

Funicular
Worked by or hanging from a rope or cable.

Funicular railway
Mountain railway on which counterbalanced cars on parallel sets of rails are pulled up and lowered by cables.

Funnel
Device consisting of an inverted cone with a hole at the small end, and with a wide, cone-shaped mouth, for pouring liquids into containers with small openings.

Furan grout
An intimate mixture of a furan resin, selected fillers and an acid catalyst. Fillers are generally carbon, silica or combination thereof into which the acid catalyst, or setting agent, may be incorporated. When combined, the components form a trowelable material for buttering or pointing tile.

Furan resin
A chemical resistant acid catalyzed condensation reaction product from furfural alcohol, furfural or combinations thereof.

Furling
The process of forcing, either manually or automatically, a wind turbine's blades out of the direction of the wind in order to stop the blades from turning.
