Glaze
A term used to describe several types of finishing materials. (1) A glazing putty is of creamy consistency and is applied to fill imperfections in the surface. (2) A glazing stain is a pigmented stain applied over a stained, filled, or painted surface to soften or blend the original color without obscuring it. (3) A glaze coat is a clear finish applied over previously coated surfaces to create a gloss finish.

Glaze coat
(1) The uppermost layer of asphalt on a smooth-surfaced built-up roof membrane, usually a reflective surfacing is installed over it; (2) A thin coat of bitumen applied to help protect the roof membrane when application of additional felts or the flood coat and aggregate surfacing are delayed.

Glaze-bright
A high gloss coating with or without color.

Glaze-clear
A transparent glaze with or without color.

Glaze-crystalline
A glaze that contains microscopic crystals.

Glaze-fritted
A glaze in which a part or all of the fluxing constituents are prefused.

Glaze-matt
A low-gloss glaze with or without color.

Glaze-opaque
A non-transparent glaze with or without color.

Glaze-raw
A glaze compounded primarily from raw constituents. It contains no prefused materials.

Glaze-semi-matt
A medium-gloss glaze with or without color.
