Green pricing and marketing
To price and sell green power/electricity higher than that produced from fossil or nuclear power plants, supposedly because some buyers are willing to pay a premium for green power.

Green wire
The wire that is used as the ground wire in electrical installations.

Green wood
Wood, which contains a high water content because it has not had adequate drying, time and is not properly seasoned. It may actually appear green and is difficult to work with, along with having the possibility of warping.

Greenbelt
Park, open space or other natural setting in a community.

Greenboard
Dry wall panels, also known as water-resistant panels or moisture-resistant panels, which have water-resistant compounds added to the gypsum core and covered with water resistant paper so they are usable in areas such a bathrooms, where moisture is present. Fiberglass mesh tape is just on the joints and then they are sealed with water-resistant joint compound.

Greenfield conduit
Also called flexible metal conduit, this flexible, protective tubing is made from spiral-wound metal.

Greenhouse
Structure used for growing plants. Natural sunlight comes in through glass or plastic panels and the temperature and humidity is controlled to provide ideal growing conditions.

Greenhouse effect
The presence of trace atmospheric gases make the earth warmer than would direct sunlight alone. These gases (carbon dioxide [CO2], methane [CH4], nitrous oxide [N2O], tropospheric ozone [O3], water vapor [H2O], and chlorofluorocarbons) allow visible light and ultraviolet light (shortwave radiation) to pass through the atmosphere and heat the earth's surface. This heat is re-radiated from the earth in form of infrared energy (longwave radiation). The greenhouse gases absorb part of that energy before it escapes into space. Thus the greenhouse effect allows solar radiation to penetrate but absorbs the infrared radiation returning to space. This process of trapping the longwave radiation specifically is known as the greenhouse effect. Scientists estimate that without the greenhouse effect, the earth's surface would be roughly 54 degrees Fahrenheit colder than it is todayÐtoo cold to support life as we know it.

Greenhouse gases
Those gases, such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, tropospheric ozone, methane, and low level ozone that are transparent to solar radiation, but opaque to long wave radiation, and which contribute to the greenhouse effect.

Greensand
A sediment composed of grains of glauconite mingled with clay or sand used as an organic fertilizer. Mined in Florida, once the ocean floor.
