Use of abrasives instead of chemicals to clean surfaces, usually exterior.
Mechanical damage
Damage to a roof by means of items puncturing or otherwise unnecessarily penetrating the roof system or any of its components. Screws or nails stuck in the roof and heel marks along base flashings are examples of mechanical damage.
Mechanical drawings
Layout and detail drawing for those items, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc., the utilities known as "mechanicals."

Mechanical equipment
Equipment for HVAC, gas, water, etc, the utilities known as "mechanicals" such as furnaces, piping, heaters, etc.
Mechanical fasteners
Devices such as screws, plates, battens, nails, or other materials that are used to secure roofing materials.
Mechanical fingers
Spring-loaded tines, shaped like fingers on a flexible housing rod, used to grab items that are out of reach of a worker. When a button on the rods end is pushed, the fingers move out of the housing and open to grasp the item. Release of the button closes the fingers around the object, holding it firmly.
Mechanical joint
Pipe joint with a gasket that has a wedge shaped cross section. Compressed against the outside diameter of the pipe by a pair of bolted ring fittings, it partially encapsulates and squeezes the gasket as the bolts are tightened. A fitting is integral with the hub end of the length of pipe with the flange type fitting slipping over the end of the pipe, which joins, to the first.
Mechanical pencil
Pencil with replaceable lead that is used for doing "drawings".

Those elements of building used to control the interior climate.
