Outside air
Air taken from outdoors and not previously circulated through the HVAC system.
Outside caliper
A caliper that curves inward for measuring outside dimensions.
Outside coil
The heat-transfer (exchanger) component of a heat pump, located outdoors, from which heat is collected in the heating mode, or expelled in the cooling mode.
Outside corner post
Provides neat appearance outside corners for vertical and horizontal sidings. Receives siding from both sides. Deeper post is used with insulated siding, and narrower post with non-insulated siding.
Outside corner tool
A drywall knife with a bent blade, used to apply joint compound to both sides of an outside corner.
Outside diameter
The diameter of a pipe measured from the outside edge.
Outstanding balance
The amount still unpaid and owed on a debt, loan or other financing agreement.
Over age 55 home sale exemption
Internal Revenue Code (IRC Sections 1034 and 121) provides that a person over age 55 can sell a principal residence at a gain and exclude up to $125,000 of the gain from taxation, provided the person has used that home as a primary residence for three of the last five years. This is allowed regardless of the purchase of another home.
Over potting
Repotting a plant into a pot which is too large to allow successful establishment. The roots may die from too much moisture.
