Slip gasket
Elastomer (natural occuring elastic substance) gasket, usable with a hub and spigot pipe because it has a tapered cross section.

Slip joint
A connection made with compression fittings.

Slip joint pliers
Slip joint pliers are general purpose pliers used for gripping and pulling. A two-position jaw opening handles a variety of sizes.

Slip ring
Electrically conductive ring, which is used around a shaft to conduct current from a rotating part to a non-rotating part as with generators or electric motors.

Slip sheet
Sheeting material placed between roofing components to prevent those components from adhering to one another or to prevent material damage due to component incompatibility. Slip Sheets may be polyethylene, rosin-sized sheathing paper, or other material.

Slip sill
Sloping sill that deflects water away from the face of a building.

Slip stone
Stone used to sharpen a concave cutting surface, such as a concave wood lathe.

Slip-resistant tile
Tile having slip-resistant characteristics due to an abrasive admixture, abrasive particles in the surface or grooves or patterns in the surface.

Slip-tongue
A spline or small strip of wood or metal used to reverse or change direction in installing standard tongue and groove strip flooring. Sometimes used in laying 3/4" solid tongue and groove parquet.

Slippage
It is the sliding, lateral movement between adjacent to plies of felt along the plane of the bitumen film separating them, which results in a randomly wrinkled appearance.
