Spade bits
Spade bits (sometimes called power wood bits or flat boring bits) are inexpensive, disposable wood-drilling bits which scrape instead of cut. They have slim shanks, flat paddle blades and long sharp points. The width of the paddle equals the diameter of the hole. Spade bits perform best at higher speeds.
