Tee
A plumbing fitting in the shape of the letter "T," used to connect three sections of pipe.

Teeth per inch
Teeth per inch is a factor in how a saw blade cuts the workpiece material. Fewer teeth per inch means the teeth are typically larger and will produce a faster cut. These types of blades are recommended for cutting wood. More teeth per inch means smaller teeth for slower cutting. These types of blades are recommended for cutting metals or for making the extra fine cuts necessary when working with plastics and laminated materials.

Teflon tape
A fluorocarbon polymer with non-sticking properties used to wrap pipe threads to seal a joint.

Telepower pole
A pole installed in offices to bring electrical power to areas that are not adjacent to a wall. The pole runs from floor to ceiling, with wiring connecting to the power at the top.

Telescoping gauge
A T-shaped device used to measure the diameter of a hole. The device is inserted into the hole and expanded until it reaches the edges. This distance is then measured.

Temper
(1) To strengthen a metal through heating. (2) To add water to mortar to improve its consistency.

Tempera
Egg-yolk based paint.

Temperature
Degree of hotness or coldness measured on one of several arbitrary scales based on some observable phenomenon (such as the expansion).

Temperature differential
The difference between the entering and leaving temperature for a given fluid. For example, a 10-degree evaporator temperature differential for a chiller would describe an operating condition where the entering water temperature is 54 degrees and the leaving is 44 degrees.

Temperature humidity index
An index that combines sensible temperature and air humidity to arrive at a number that closely responds to the effective temperature; used to relate temperature and humidity to levels of comfort.
