Thermosyphon
The natural, convective movement of air or water due to differences in temperature. In solar passive design a thermosyphon collector can be constructed and attached to a house to deliver heat to the home by the continuous pattern of the convective loop (or thermosyphon).

Thermosyphon (solar) systems
Thermosyphon systems use a separate storage tank located above the collector. Liquid warmed in the collector rises naturally above the collector, where it is kept until it is needed. The liquid can be either water or a glycol solution. If the fluid is water, freeze protection is provided by electric heat. If the fluid is glycol, the heat from the glycol is transferred to water in the storage tank.

Thermowelding
The connection of plastic fittings by melting at the joints.

Thick-bed mortar
A thick layer of mortar (more than 1/2 inch) that is used for leveling.

Thickened-end slab
A concrete slab that is thicker at the perimeter to support the walls of the structure.

Thickness gauge
Also called a feeler gauge, this series of precision thickness, metal blades is used for measuring small gaps, with each blade being marked with the thickness in thousandths of an inch.

Thin
To remove the weakest seedlings which prevents crowding of plants.

Thin film
A layer of semiconductor material, such as copper indium diselenide or gallium arsenide, a few microns or less in thickness, used to make solar photovoltaic cells.

Thin head wrench
Thin head wrenches, also called a tappet wrench, feature a pear-shaped head and extra thin construction is designed to reach and grip automotive tappets.

Thin market
Market in which there are comparatively few bids to buy or offers to sell real estate. The term relates to a single investment or to a particular investment market, such as the real estate market. In a thin market, buying or selling a few homes can impact disproportionately. Price volatility is generally wider than liquid markets.
