Chris Hoff of Buderus Hydronic Systems introduces Bob to the unique features of Buderus' high efficiency, cast iron G124 X gas-fired boiler system. With a full 3" of thermal insulation surrounding the unit (as opposed to most conventional boilers that have only a 3/4" jacket), Buderus has been able to reduce the standby heat losses by 15-20 times that of a conventional boiler. For the consumer this means savings of approximately $300 per year for a family living in New England. With its 85% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating, the Buderus boiler bears the distinctive Energy Star® label, awarded by the EPA and DOE to products that both save money on utilities and reduce pollution in our environment.

Other features include enhanced resistance to thermal shock and corrosion due to Buderus' revolutionary "flexible" cast iron with a high silicone surface, stainless burner technology offering reliability and longevity and standard U.S. Honeywell control components (gas valve, pilot, and aquastat) making it easy for your heating contractor to service with in-stock parts from a local wholesale supplier.

The G124 X is approved for installation on a combustible floor, can be installed in a closet with just 2" clearance, and offers two venting options: atmospheric venting to the chimney or sidewall venting with a draft inducer.

Buderus' Ecomatic controls allows your boiler to "work smarter...not harder." A typical boiler will often be controlled only by a thermostat and will cycle between a high and low limit contantly throughout the heating season—operating to its preset limit, typically 180-200° anytime the thermostat calls.

With its Ecomatic control the Buderus boiler water temperature is reset as the outside weather changes. This means that the boiler generally will have a much lower average temperature (130°-140°) throughout the entire heating season. This allows for fewer burner starts offering superior comfort and improved fuel efficiency—typically an additional 15%.
