Constructed of light gauge steel, metal studs can greatly speed the process of framing interior walls and ceilings. In addition to being lighter than wooden two-by-fours, metal studs can be cut with standard multi-purpose metal snips.

Step 1
After measuring and marking the stud at the required length, cut the leading edge of the stud with a set of multi-purpose metal snips. When purchasing metal snips, make sure they are capable of cutting the proper metal thickness, typically 20 gauge mild steel.

Step 2
With each leading edge cut, bend the stud back and cut along the crease.

Step 3
Fast and easy. Metal studs are easily cut to length without the use of power tools. Using metal studs eliminates wood dust and power tool noise.
