John Marran of Energy Kinetics was on site to help plumbing and heating expert Frank Iadarola install the System 2000. Energy Kinetic's System 2000 provides multi-zone control of warm air, radiant heat, hydronic baseboard and domestic hot water as well as heating capabilities for pools or spas.

The System 2000 uses a high efficiency boiler, which contains only 2.5 gallons of water. Since it only takes approximately 1 and a half minutes to heat up that small amount of water, there is no need for the water to be heated all the time. The System 2000 activates the boiler only when you need heat or hot water. After it supplies the heat or hot water the boiler does not remain hot. This saves a lot of energy.

For fuel, the System 2000 uses heating oil or natural gas. Through a combustion process it converts energy to produce your heat. In the garage's radiant heating system a water and glycol solution flows through the tubing in the cement floors. It comes from the boiler at 120 degrees and returns only 20 degrees cooler, at 100 degrees. Glycol is present so the water doesn't freeze during periods when the heat is not on. This is important since there will only be a need for heat in the garage periodically.
