Markus Earley of Lightolier met with Bob and Ryley to design a plan for lighting the storage barn. The interior lighting plan called for a central row of luminous prismatic pendant lights, spaced eight feet on center and two rows of surface mounted light tracks parallel to the side walls, two foot-six inches from the walls. The track lights are four feet on center and aimed in toward the boats/cars in the space.

Specifications
Pendant Light: ExceLine/Genlyte Co., Constar II series 22" diameter, 18" high Prismatic Acrylic Pendant light with 175W warm tone, coated metal halide lamp. Fixture has nominal 80% downlight and 20% uplight component. Exact lamp used is Osram-Sylvania #M175/3K/BU-ONLY, with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 3200 degrees kelvin and a color rendering (CRI)index of 70, (CRI 100 being the rating of an incandescent source). Note: metal halide lamps are not typically used in residential spaces, because of the several minute warm-up time, less than perfect color, and some noticeable color shift over the life of the lamp. However, they have 10,000 to 20,000 hour life and produce about five times the lumens per watt (light output) compared to incandescent.

In addition to the metal halide series Constar products, ExceLine also offers a variety incandescent and compact fluorescent products which are similar in design and available in smaller sizes, designer colors etc.

Track
Lightolier/Genlyte Co., Suspension Beam series 6451, extruded aluminum housing with series 6000, Basic Lytespan track (1 circuit) and series 6100, Advent Lytespan track (2 circuit) mounted within the heavy duty extruded raceway. 1 circuit track was used for the majority of the job, and 2 circuit track was used over the workbench, so Bob can have lights on different controls mounted on the same piece of track. Suspension Beam was used because we had to span 8' between support points. For normal surface or pendant mounting (with 4' on center support points), use Basic or Advent alone. For very low profile track see Lightolier Radius series track, which is only 1/2" h x 1 3/8" w with rounded edges, 1 circuit only.

Track Lights
Lightolier/Genlyte Co., Sof-Tech series #8330WH with hex cell louver #8569 to help reduce glare. Powered by Osram-Sylvania #50PAR30/CAP/NFL halogen, short-neck medium base lamp. Fixture has a "cool grip" silicon band around the lamp ring which makes the unit cool enough to the touch that it can be adjusted while the lamp is on. Always turn off power to re-lamp, or move the fixture.
