Conventional, tank type hot water systems heat water constantly. With the Aquastar system, when the hot water tap is turned on, cold water flows through the heater, automatically igniting the burner which heats water as it passes through the copper heat exchanger.
On-demand, tankless water heaters can reduce energy use dramatically because they eliminate the need to store hot water. Because there is no stand-by heat loss, industry experts estimate that the energy savings resulting from a tankless on-demand water heater can range from 15 to 40 percent. Instantaneous water heating systems, which heat water only when needed, provide significant economical savings to consumers. Moreover, on-demand tankless water heaters are designed and built to last a lifetime, unlike storage tank heaters which last an average of eight to ten years, thus saving the consumer replacement costs as well as dump and hauling fees.
