The carpentry crew crafted tapered columns for the front porch of our Quechee, Vermont farmhouse, adding a little extra old-world charm to the home's exterior.. The columns encase the support posts for the porch roof and provide a design detail that enhances the look and feel of this new old-style home.

Our tapered columns begin at the porch roof and travel down to a 10-11 inch broad base. This detailing was common on 19th century bungalow-style, arts-and-crafts, and farmhouses. It is a design detail that lends craftsmanship, delicacy, and meaning to the front of the house. Because it camouflages the ordinary 6x6 supports underneath, it is a favored element in 19th century front porches. It is a handcrafted detail and, as such speaks to the taste and sensibility of the homeowner.
