The Drivers selected the Stardance Direct Vent Gas Stove from Vermont Castings for their new kitchen. It features all cast iron construction with a sand porcelain enamel finish and a patented ceramic burner for durability and unsurpassed realism. Its standing pilot ignition requires no electricity.

The Drivers vented their stove through the chimney utilizing a special transition piece and two 3-inch lines run up the chimney for a balanced flue. The Stardance can also be vented through the wall or through the roof.

An exclusive gas valve system integrates electronics for thermostat, flame and fan functions. This Integrated Comfort Control System operates virtually everything - via hand held remote control. Just set the desired room temperature on the remote, and the flames modulate to match the heat output to the heat loss of the area. The Comfort Control System allows you to manually set the flames and fan up or down - up to 6 levels, plus it includes a countdown-timer off feature. This system ensures operation even during a power outage. A built-in LED diagnostics on gas valve easily trouble-shoots any problems with the system.

For outdoor cooking the Drivers nestled Vermont Castings' VC200 Gas Barbecue Grill on their side porch. The grill with optional side burner provides gourmet cooking capability: it's a grill, oven, rotisserie and stovetop all in one. Available in both propane and natural gas models, the grill features dual stainless steel main burners (45,000 btu), a large (450 sq. in. primary cooking area, 155 sq. in. warming rack, porcelain on steel cooking grates, stainless steel sear plates, stainless steel oven burner (15,000 btu), infrared rear rotisserie burner (12,500 btu), stainless steel smoker box, and a degree calibrated temperature gauge.
