Bathroom on a dime

A neat little trick I discovered in rehabbing homes is the tile over. I have tile over existing tile on both floors and walls giving a bathroom a brand new look without having to gut the entire bathroom. The floor in the above photo was placed over an existing tile floor. This is very effective and much cheaper than the alternative.
Use standard glues but use a 1/4 notch trowel all the walls and floor for best adherence

Did you acid wash old tiles?

Just wondering what you did to the old tiles to allow the glue for the new tiles to stick. I am planning to do the same thing on a tiled tub wall that had to be broken through for plumbing repair and looking for suggestions.
Thanks.
