Beautiful bungalow We had a beautiful 100 year old bungalow that was painted white. Looking at the brick on the fireplace we decided the house would be beautiful with the paint removed. We tried by ourselves with envoronmental friendly paint stripper and a pressure washer. No go. We decided to hire a professional who restored the brick and it was absolutely beautiful. The brick was a butter yellow with flecks of sandstone in it. Once the paint was removed we encountered a rather large problem. Underneath the jointwork was crumbling and water had seeped into the interior of the south facing wall. We had to remove 100 years of wallpaper, plaster, and paint to remove all the water damage and to avoid a potential mold problem. We had to plaster, sand, and paint the walls and recaulk the windows. It was a long 3 weeks - working nights and weekends - but we are proud to say we did it ourselves and that bedroom , which we coincidentally painted a soft yellow, looked as beautiful as the outside of the house. Due to the expense of the paint stripping and replastering we decided to paint the exterior woodwork ourselves. What was once a battleship grey became a beautiful ivory color. I really think the end result was remarkable. |
