About Our Bloggers Meet the BobVila.com staffers who write On the Level. These bloggers offer a unique blend of opinions, tips, advice, entertaining tidbits and information with one thing in common: their passion for home improvement.
Dave, Content Manager/Editor Dave has been with BobVila.com since 2006. He grew up in a condo in New Hampshire and has never mowed a lawn. He's learned a lot about home improvement since then. He and his wife just bought a house in the Boston area so he can put his work-related knowledge to good use.
Greg, Webmaster The self-proclaimed BobVila.com Know-It-All. He has the ability to dodge any question or complicate an issue but the aptitude to answer most questions or clarify the situation. Opinionated but open to new ideas and willing to change his mind when presented with new or better information. A pretty avid DIYer with the ability to start any project and the knowledge to know when to call in a pro. He welcomes comments about his blogs. But be warned: He's likely to reply back.
Tracy, Managing Editor As an editor and writer for print and online media, book publishing, and marketing/advertising, Tracy had always been more comfortable with a pen than a hammer. To take care of anything at home while living and renting in New York; Washington, DC; Baltimore; Sydney and Brisbane, Australia; or Boston, all she had to do was call the landlord. That changed in 2005 when she and her husband bought a 1941 Cape Cod house in Central Massachusetts. It's a perfect starter home, providing ample learning opportunities for a DIY novice. Like most moms, she looks for time to do it all, including home renovations on what she lovingly calls "the farm"--a fun but rambunctious house filled with a golden retriever, two Siberian cats, a preschooler and a husband. Tracy is currently celebrating her latest home improvement accomplishment: With the recent removal of the wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom, she has eradicated every piece of wallpaper in the house.
Yumi, Intern Straight from the city of cars, computers and crazy technology, Yumi grew up in Tokyo and moved to Boston in 2006 to pursue a degree in journalism at Boston University. Along the way, she's assembled choir raisers as a summer job, designated herself as her household interior designer and makes shoe racks out of cardboard boxes to save money (a trick of the frugal college student). Right now, she's marveling at the architectural differences between the brownstones on Newbury Street and the skyscrapers in Roppongi and contemplates (every day!) where she'll end up buying a home in the future.
