As the largest energy consumer in the United States, the Department of Defense is always looking for energy-efficient technologies. So when Fort Dix ordered 2,000 units of a new type of heating system, I took special notice of the brand. I can see why they chose them. Using patented technology, the Acadia heating system can provide savings of up to 70 percent over other conventional systems. Way to go, Uncle Sam! The Acadia is available for residences and can be installed by any experienced HVAC contractor, no special training required.
Thanks for the posting, Dave.
I'm quite familiar with this Acadia heat pump. I do independent field testing of heat pumps, mostly for electric companies.
Its performance (both efficiency and heat output) at low ambient temperatures is impressive. What's most impressive is that it doesn't need backup electric heat until around zero to -20F (depending on how it's matched to the house load).
I take issue however with your comment that no special training is needed of the HVAC contractor.
I've seen several of these installed where the contractor screwed up - messing up the low voltage wiring, not putting the heat pump on "snow legs", etc. Their installation manual is clear about these details. I'm sure this happens with lots of heat pumps of all brands.
I wouldn't let an installer touch an installation of this system at my house, unless he shows me the installation manual first - with lots of yellow highlighter markings through it! I want to make sure he has actually read it! Most installers just flip through a manual, and look for some pictures they can work from.
You know all those "caution"s, "warning"s, "danger"s in the typical installation manual? They never get read!
The Acadia All Climate Heat Pump has to be the most revolutionary product in the history of our industry. When we jumped on board as a dealer of this project after the first week we sold it we knew we had our hands on something major that would change the business forever. We got our information from www.hcimechanical.com
and it truly changed the way we do business, we dropped all other products at this point and we are now only selling the Acadia, in March it becomes even more efficient, It's like a Money Train that never slows down and never stops!
I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA AND BOY DOES IT GET COLD HERE. WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE ACADIA AND THAT IT COULD SAVE ME 70 TO 80% ON MY HEAT COST I CALLED HCI MECHANICAL. MR GARCIA AND HIS QUALITY ASSURANCE TEAM SHOWED UP AT MY HOME I WAS AMAZED WITH THE PRESENTATION THAT THEY GAVE WITH THIS EQUIPMENT AND THEIR COMPANY. THEY ANWSERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS AND I BOUGHT ONE! I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I MADE. MY HEATING COST IS DOWN BY 70%, MY HOUSES WARMER NOW THAN IT HAS EVER BEEN. SO MY RECOMMENDATION IS THIS..IF YOU ARE TIRED OF PAYING HIGH HEATING COSTS YOU NEED TO GIVE THE GUYS OF HCI MECHANICAL A CALL AND LET THE ACADIA START SAVING YOU SOME MONEY! CALL 1 877 818 4328
I am looking to purchase one of the units for my heating and cooling. I live in N.E. Ohio average winter temp is probably 18deg F.Does this unit really work as they state with out kicking in the auxiliary heaters during the winter and does it cool as efficiently during the summer at a relativity low cost? Am I better off spending the extra 10k and going geothermal?
