Imagine my surprise when I sat down to watch The Sopranos season five, episode three on my DVD player recently: And who should make a suprise appearance on one of my favorite TV shows than none other than my employer, Bob Vila? You read that right, Bob Vila appears in an episode of The Sopranos. For those of you interested in checking it out, it's the episode entitled "Where's Junior?" I'll warn youit's nothing as glamorous as a gun fight between Bob and Tony Soprano. In the scene, Junior and someone else are watching TV and the Bob Vila show comes on. After the clip of Bob welcoming viewers to the show, Junior says something dismissive questioning why anyone would want to live in an old house. Bah, what do mobsters know about remodeling homes? It's a brief appearance but I got a big kick out of seeing it. An intersection of two of my favorite TV shows!
The name of the episode in question is "Where's Johnny?", not "Where's Junior?". The title is not only a reference to the Tonight Show, but also hints at one of the major story lines of the episode: Junior's half-demented walk around North Jersey, looking for his long-deceased brother (and Tony's father) John Soprano. Also, it is Bobby Baccala who makes the remark about not understanding why people live in old houses, not Junior. In fact, Junior looks somewhat miffed at the comment.
Rhadayer, thanks for catching my errors - you are right on both counts. I saw the episode a month or two ago, and apparently my memory isn't as good as I thought it was. That won't happen again.
