If you are in the San Francisco area, a company called Sungevity can give you a cost estimate by viewing the roof of your home from satellite. All you need to do is enter your address at the company's Web site. It's a great idea, and I hope solar panel companies in our area starting doing the same thing soon.
What a great idea! Not only do you save time (for both customer and contractor), but you save money as well, by not driving all over the place giving estimates (that may or may not turn into a project).
I say this, as I use to spend a lot of time on the road providing estimates for decorative concrete.
