1798 SILVER WINE LADLE WHALEBONE HANDLE J SNATT

George III sterling silver and twisted whalebone wine toddy ladle made by Josiah Snatt, London, 1798. Measures 15inches long. Bowl is 3 1/4inch wide. Sumptuous oval shaped bowl, very good patina. Hallmarked in the center: lion, leopard head, JS (maker), somewhat worn date mark and monarch's head. Handle is also silver with beautiful forked join to back of bowl. curves gently and changes from flat to round, where it joins the whalebone section of the handle, which ends in a sterling silver cap. Great condition.
