1860 First Printing~I Wish I was in Dixie Land Sheet Music
Rare example of the first authorized printing of Dixie Land which was done on June 21st 1860,by Firth,Pond & Co. 547 Broadway,New York,N.Y. under the title "I wish I Was in Dixie's Land." This first printing features Dan D.Emmett as being the sole author,and Bryant's Minstrels are mentioned,Emmett later stated: "I did not publish it...until it was issued by Mr. P.P.Werling (Werlein) of New Orleans. The words and the song itself have been banned throughout the decades since in many schools for being a racist song. Daniel Decatur Emmett,an early Negro Minstrel,was born in Mount Vernon,Ohio in 1815 and died there in 1904. You will likely never find another original example. Click for Price @ GoAntiques.com
