A wonderful example of the turner's skill in late 19th century England is this handsome pearwood lamp stand. The feel of the wood is truly sensual, with an elegance usually not found in a lamp base. There are so many places to use this petite lamp. When you need a bit of light in an intimate setting, this is just the right touch. This is an elegant lamp base which, with the right shade, would make a great addition to an elegant room.When I purchased the lampbase in London, it had the original European bulb socket, requiring a twist bulb.
