This is a fabulous highly carved Mahogany 1890s-05 Conover made by The Cable Company of Chicago Upright Giraffe Grand Piano! THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 50 MADE! The great grandmother of the family attended The Worlds Fair at the turn of the century and of course was able to buy one of the 50 that was made. This one is numbered #18 on the back of only 50 made ~ and also dated 1897, but from what we were told was not displayed for sale until the Worlds Fair opening in New York around the turn of the century. SAD BUT TRUE This is the end of an era in central Ohio. This piano was used at some concerts because it was an eye catcher and displayed very well. SPEAKING OF VERY WELL we can give you a bit of information about this piano. Of course Columbus Antique Warehouse is the owner of the rare fine Piano at this point in time. We do an appraisal for this family right about 20 years ago in the Bexley, Ohio area in what was called Park Towers on Parkview Avenue. This was on the third floor and I remember it well. The daughter, Jan, called us about 20 years ago to do the appraisal for her mothers apartment and she was 93. LETS JUST SAY for the past many years I have never forgotten this Piano because of its quality, carving and monumental looking outrageous carved case!! To see this setting in an apartment on a 3rd floor was amazing! NOW 20 YEARS LATER of course the mother has passed away and the daughter Jan could not use this w she had moved to. is something fun the daughter called us and we got to talking and speaking of this Piano. Well, lights bells and whistles starting going off in my head, because something like this you do not forget about! When she called us and told us that she had this Piano for sale, I Bob asked was this possible in an apartment in the Bexley OH area. She said Yes it was at her mothers. I told her I had done the appraisal for her mothers apartment. She asked my what my name was and she was absolutely amazed that she had called me to sell it to and she did not have a clue whom she was calling. . ABOUT THE SOUNDBOARD, ETC. T is absolutely nothing wrong with the sound board, and the reason why we know this is because we called and had a Piano Expert in Columbus Ohio Wolfes Piano Service to come out and take a look at this piano. He quoted that the only thing it needs is a good tuning! NOW IS THE FUN PART WHEN MR. WOLFE CAME OUT He quoted that all the years that he has been in the business he has never had the opportunity to see of even come close to looking at one of these pianos. is a fun thing ~ he stood back and probably looked at the piano for 10-15 minutes. We had to ask him if t was something that we could help him with or do. He said NO I am simply standing back in amazement in taking this in! This upright Grand Piano towers 92 ½ inches tall. At the leg or base area it is 66 inches wide and 29 inches front to back. The Piano bench the top is 38 x 15 inches and stands 20 ½ inches tall. Please take notice that the top lifts up so that one can store sheet music underneath. PLEASE ALSO TAKE NOTICE THAT THE CASE OF THIS PIANO AGAIN IS HIGHLY CARVED AND IS MAHOGANY WITH WONDERFUL FLAME BURL MAHOGANY STRIPPING THROUGHOUT!! The breathe taking top floral and carved what we call sound board is 44 inches wide and 42 inches tall. This large carved piece opens and closes for of course larger sound!! ITS GREAT!! In the last photo below shows the large 44 x 42 inch carved sound board opened to hear a much larger sound. You can receive a quick and free shipping quote for this item at .
