Edo period mokko gata tsuba with gold inlay decorations

Edo period mokko gata tsuba with decorations in high relief with gold inlay (honzogan). The obverse side features a grasshopper with silver and gold inlays, a butterfly with shakudo wings, gold body and antennae and a snail with silver and gold inlays. Reverse side depicts a grasshopper with silver and gold inlays and a spider with silver inlay. Obturation of hogai hitsu ana and kozuka hitsu ana were done with shakudo fillers. Size: 3.5" X 3.1" (9 X 8 cm.).
