Origin: Zhejiang Province, China,Period: Warring States Period/Eastern Han: 475BC-AD100,Dimensions: 12-1/2" tall, 12-1/2" diameter,Weight: 11 lbs;A stunning large Warring States Period/Eastern Han Urn/Jar. This style originated during the Warring States Period and was mass-produced during the Han dynasty. Made of gray high-fired earthenware with residual ash glaze and impressed woven-mat design. The mat design was common a ornament on southern high-fired earthenware from the Neolithic period onward. Technically the type of ashen glaze earthenware seen in this piece was related to glazed stoneware, both having been used as the medium for wares of similar shapes. Above the shoulder are carved raised bands extending onto the mouth rim itself. The base foot is flat and without foot rim. The base foot has a reddish pink soil residue from the excavation site. A classic rarity surely to compliment the connoisseur collection or home.Condition Consensus: Excellent Condition, museum quality, without any damage and or repair.z/109
