Dating to around 1850, this wonderful box certainly makes a statement due it's large and very useful size measuring over 12" wide x 9". Made primarily from some of the most beautiful burl Walnut wood I have seen, it is further enhanced with brass trim all around the top, Tulipwood cross-banding and Ebony, Ivory and brass inlays to the domed lid. I often get asked for table boxes large enough to hide those ugly remote controls we all have in the living room, this one would be perfect. The interior has been re-lined with top quality hand-marbled paper, perfectly in keeping. There is a taselled key which unfortunately is not working but is wonderful for display purposes.
