Neolithic green jade casket

Neolithic period (circa 3000 BCE) green jade casket with russet inclusions and superficial calcination. The container has a lid that closes the casket via 2 pegs that fit in corresponding circular perforations on the lid. An ornament in shape of 2 stylized facing dragons is carved in bas relief on the proximal facet of the trapezoid shaped casket. On the smaller facet, a blooming lotus flower is carved in bas relief. Dimensions: 10.5" (27 cm.) length, 4" (10 cm.) height. The facets measure 1.8" (4.5 cm.), and 2.5" (6.5 cm.). Estimated value: $12.000-$15.000. Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the illustrated collectors' textbook: "Jade, 5000 BC to 1912, Guide to collectors".
