Povey Bros. Art Nouveau Stained Glass Windows
The best pair of Art Nouveau stained glass windows that we have ever offered for sale. They are signed "Povey Bros, Portland, Oreg." in the lower corner. There are two vertical windows in a single frame. They could be used the way they are or be reframed individually. Each window features a leaded stained glass design of a woman playing an instrument. Original paint enhances and articulates the subjects. There are matching flowers in each woman's hair and the bottom wreath. The design is set into a background of white, yellow and tan leaded squares. There are a number of fractures in the pieces of the glass - very common in old windows that have settled over the years - but no pieces are missing. We seldom find windows that are signed. These gorgeous windows could be used creatively to greatly enhance either new construction or any renovation!
